Duration: 12 months (with potential for renewal)
Start Date: As soon as possible      
Annual Stipend: $40,000/yr plus benefits

The Department of Production Animal Health in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in cow-calf health management.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be involved in several projects, all related to cow-calf health management and epidemiology. The primary project will examine antibody titres in neonatal beef calves, their association with vaccination strategies and other management practices, and the impact on pre-weaning health and survival. Additional projects may include: beef colostrum quality and intervention strategies and neonatal calf resuscitation. The expectation is the position will result in multiple first authorship and several co-authorship publications.


The successful candidate has the ability to work with beef cattle and have previous relevant experience in epidemiological research. Skills in statistical analyses, experience with preparing scientific publication, and training in veterinary medicine, agriculture, or animal science are assets. The position requires fluency in written and oral English. The candidate must be organized, responsible, and able to work independently. Demonstrated ability to function as a productive team member is also necessary. The position requires flexibility and strong problem-solving skills.
